Update: Spielberg actually mentioned the below news to us last year with details. Check it out HERE.
We’ve known for a while that Steven Spielberg was teaming up with Peter Jackson to direct a trilogy based on the extremely popular comic character Tintin but there was still speculation as to whether either of the directing titans would actually direct the films and, if they did, who they’d get to direct the third one. The Beard recently revealed his plan for the three films, stating the following: “We are going to make three Tintin movies back-to-back. I’ll direct the first one, Peter will direct the second one. We’ll probably co-direct the third one.” Awww, snap! An all Spielberg-Jackson affair? Count me in! The story follows the titular young Belgian reporter and his crazy adventures with people like Captain Haddock and Professor Calculus. Who knows when they’ll get underway but considering they’ll be filming each back-to-back, even if they start this year, we probably won’t see the first one at the very least until late 2010.
