… Fox needs new leadership!
by Sturdy
Fox really pisses me off. No, not our furry, four-legged friends, but the borderline evil Hollywood production company that seems bound and determined to ruin everything they touch. Yes, 20th Century Fox has got to be the worst run American company not based in Detroit. After their insistence to ruin the WATCHMEN movie, they have officially crossed a line that Hollywood companies shouldn’t cross.
Let’s start with the WATCHMEN. I understand their legal rights to the project, even if I completely disagree with the process. I can accept that they brought the case to court to try and get in on the action. What I don’t like is the fact the judge ruled in their favor and their subsequent lawsuit to delay the film. Let’s remember that Fox didn’t put any money into the production of the film and yet here they are fighting tooth and nail to get some of the profits. I don’t think Fox will be happy until they get 100% of the profits and WB gets nothing. Remember, if WATCHMEN does in fact get delayed, it’s all because of Fox.
We may not see this for a while…
Their poisonous hands extend all the way to television as well. Did you like Arrested Development and Firefly? Well, many people and critics did as well, but Fox was right there to make sure neither show had much of a chance. AD was the victim of bad marketing and a bad time slot while Firefly was the victim of…well…everything. It’s almost as if Fox went out of their way to shut these two great shows down.
Another notch on the Fox list of deaths
Something you may not know about Fox is that they’ve decided to not allow people to resell their movie posters. Every other studio will allow poster sellers to sell their posters, but not Fox. Not a huge deal, but to a movie poster collector like myself, it really sucks. So if you want an original, double sided movie poster from Fox, good luck. They even have an “Ebay watcher” that passes out legal warnings to anyone trying to sell Fox posters. Since they don’t sell posters on their own, what do they possibly gain by doing this? Are they somehow related to the RIAA?
I hate that Fox owns this property
My biggest question is; why is Fox like this and Paramount, Sony, Universal, etc. not? What makes Fox so special that they have to be the assholes of Hollywood? They have some good franchises, but I wouldn’t put their films any higher than the other major studios. Besides, we all know that if you have a huge hit with Fox, they’ll do everything they can to make sure they rape the sequel (SPEED, X-MEN, etc.). The suits at the Fox entertainment division need to step back and think about what they’re doing to their properties. It’s almost as if the company is run by people that have zero business aptitude and even less understanding of Hollywood.
I would say we need to standup and boycott Fox, but I’m not missing WOLVERINE, even if it’s produced by Fox. So that idea is out. The only thing we can hope for is that the public backlash will hit them at some point, or that the CEO of Fox entertainment gets replaced by one of those plastic, wind-up monkeys that claps the cymbals. Because I really think the monkey could do a better job.
