… thank you Keira Knightley!

. In a town and an industry that overly glamorizes thin waists and huge breasts, it’s refreshing that one of the more respected and talented actresses has put her foot down.
To borrow a line from Duchovny’s Showtime show, “Californication” (one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time); “LA is killing its women”. ‘Killing’ might be too light of a word, they are murdering their women. If you aren’t throwing up your meals and spending thousands of dollars on enhancement surgeries, then you’re just not trying hard enough. Hell, I’m a guy and when I went out to LA for a visit, I didn’t eat for a week. The pressure is everywhere, and I was just hitting the basic tourist spots. It’s easy to say you don’t care about your appearance, but when your career and your livelihood depends on how Hollywood executives feel about you physically, the pressure is there.
She’s just an overall sexy woman.
So when a famous actress emphatically says no to breast enhancements, both physically and digitally, we as fans have to take notice. I think this is a big deal and I’m begging other actresses to follow suit. It doesn’t need to stop with breast implants, I want women to speak out about the pressure to be too thin, to look young and just about every other physical enhancement. Well, except braces…messed up teeth freak me out.
Even when she’s not trying to be.
I’m not technically a doctor, but I think it’s a natural and biological fact that big breasts on an attractive woman will generate attention from heterosexual males. That’s fine, and I enjoy big breasts as much as the next guy, but they’re not going to make an actress perform better in front of the camera. Wait…damn, that didn’t come out right. What I meant is, there’s no correlation between big breasts and acting talent. I appreciate Hollywood’s desire to generate attention for their films, but not at the expense of mutilating their most talented actresses.
Or when she’s lying on a bed in full makeup with her hair perfectly placed.
So Ms. Knightley; thank you for being proud of what you look like. Consider this a call to all women in Hollywood to stand up and be proud of who you are and what you look like. You don’t have to get implants to be beautiful. In fact, I think most guys will agree with me that surgically altered bodies are more of a turn off than a turn on. The more famous actresses take a public stance against those kinds of things, the better message we’re sending to the youth of the world.
