C'mon Hollywood #168

There’s an unwritten rule in Hollywood that you don’t insult your peers or your writers. You can see actors adhering to this rule during interviews when they start to say something and then shut up in order to be careful not to offend anyone that could stab them in the back later on. It’s actually a pretty good rule to live by, but not everyone gets the memo. One person that didn’t get the memo is Ms. Katherine Heigl. Somewhere along the line, someone forgot to tell her that in order to continue your career in Hollywood, you have to be respectful and complimentary to the people that helped you make it.

I have to admit that until Katherine Heigl opens her mouth and speaks, I actually find her very attractive. She needs to learn that she’s ten times prettier when she doesn’t talk. I know a lot of people hate on her appearance because of what she’s said but the fact remains that if it wasn’t for her ridiculous statements, she’d be even hotter. Let’s face it; she’s a blonde with a nice body and even nicer rack. If she would learn to think before she speaks, she could have a long career ahead of her.

I know there are a lot of aspiring screenwriters reading this, so imagine you’re a staff writer on Grey’s Anatomy and Katherine takes a swipe at you for not giving her enough of a “juicy” role. What are you going to do? Exactly, so next season, expect to see Heigl with two words of dialogue in each episode and making out with various farm animals in the background of every scene.

The funny thing about her comment is that I despise “Grey’s Anatomy” and I hate to defend it. I mean, I hate it with a passion. I think it’s one of the worst shows on television and the writing is worse than your average day time soap opera. But see, I can get away with saying that because there’s nothing the staff of Grey’s Anatomy can do to me other than write me a nasty email. If I starred on the show and they controlled my acting career and the future of my character, I would be hailing them as the best writers in the business. I’m cynical, but I’m not stupid.

When you’re an up and coming actor and you make a disparaging remark about one of your films or costars, you have to know those comments will haunt you for a while. This is why she had to have realized that insulting KNOCKED UP was instantly a dumb move. Her comments were a few years old and they’re still getting recycled. What confuses me about that is when you’re the second choice for a role (behind Anne Hathaway), why would you slam the movie that has basically made you a star? And not to mention it was a great movie. Does that seem illogical to anyone else?

In a business as tough as Hollywood, why would you say these things? My theory is that she’s an idiot. Katherine Heigl needs to go buy all of the writers of Grey’s Anatomy Rolexes and send Judd Apatow a new Mercedes and apologize profusely for her mistakes. You can count the number of actresses in Hollywood with a career longer than 10 years on one hand. And given the attitude and personality of Ms. Heigl, she’ll be lucky to make it five years. But look on the bright side; there’s always porn.
