Clive Barker and writer Josh Stolberg (PIRANHA 3DD, SORORITY ROW) are currently working to bring Barker's underappreciated cult classic NIGHTBREED to the small screen soon. And today we have a cool bit of (semi) confirmation via the show's head writer Stolberg who took to Twitter to (basically) confirm that none other than Mr. Buttonface himself Dr. Philip K. Decker will be back for the series.
You can check out his tweet below.
I don't know if a NIGHTBREED TV series without the character of Dekker (played in Barker's original film by THE FLY and VIDEODROME director David Cronenberg) was ever even an option, but the fact that the head writer has basically all-but confirmed his presence, I'm still f*cking excited as hell! Sorry, but Dekker is the best thing about NIGHTBREED in my humble horror eyes.
Barker's original film followed:
Aaron Boone (Craig Sheffer) who is haunted by terrifying nightmares of a city of monsters. He goes to see a psychiatrist, Dr. Decker (David Cronenberg), for help. But what Boone doesn't know is that Decker is really a serial killer. Decker frames Boone to take the fall for his murders, and Boone is killed by the police. But Boone is brought back to life by the monsters of his dreams, the Nightbreed, who in turn join Boone in his quest to stop Decker from killing again.
No word on if Cronenberg plans to revisit the role. But that's about as likely as a Cronenberg/Disney movie. Oh, well. Who do you think has the (no pun intended) chops to play new Decker? Let us know below!
