Warner Bros. has officially set a release date for Clint Eastwood's next feature titled RICHARD JEWELL. The film will arrive in cinemas on December 13, which stars Paul Walter Hauser (BLACKKKLANSMAN, COBRA KAI) as Jewell, the security guard who, after helping to save lives during the Olympic Park bombing at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, was falsely accused of being a terrorist by members of the press.
Eastwood is directing the drama from a script penned by Billy Ray (SHATTERED GLASS, CAPTAIN PHILLIPS), which is based on the magazine article written by Marie Brenner. Joining Hauser for the film are Sam Rockwell (SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS, MOON) as Jewell's lawyer; Jon Hamm (MAD MEN, TAG) as Tom Shaw, an FBI agent who investigates the bombing; Olivia Wilde (TRON: LEGACY, THE WORDS) who plays reporter Kathy Scruggs, with Kathy Bates (MISERY, AMERICAN HORROR STORY) as Bobi Jewell.
With RICHARD JEWELL hitting theaters in December, it's to be thought that Eastwood is banking on the film becoming a prime Awards contender. Tim Moore, Jessica Meier, Kevin Misher, Jonah Hill, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson are producing, with Eastwood both directing and serving as a producer via his Malpaso production label.
