Clint Eastwood has come forward with the news that he'll be directing a film based on Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, Spencer Stone and Jeffrey E. Stern's The 15:17 to Paris: The True Story of a Terrorist, a Train, and Three American Heroes. A fresh, new writer by the name of Dorothy Blyskal penned the script, and casting is said to already be underway as the film prepares to roll into production later this year. Acting as the project's producers will be Clint Eastwood himself, Tim Moore, Kristina Rivera and Jessica Meier.
In the film, Eastwood will hope to tell the stories of soldiers Sadler, Skarlatos and Stone as they encounter an ISIS terrorist who one day boarded the #9364 train from Brussels to Paris. While toting AK-47s and enough ammo to eliminate more than 500 people, the three American friends set aside their fears and decide to intervene. Each trained with a multitude of skill-sets, Skarlatos, Stone, and Stern used their unique talents to overpower the gunman, securing the safety of everyone riding the train on that fateful day.
You can expect to hear more about this film as casting announcements are made and production gets underway by the year's end. Until then, why not check out Eastwood's latest directorial effort, SULLY starring Tom Hanks, which tells the story of Chesley Sullenberger, an American pilot who became a hero after landing his damaged plane on the Hudson River in order to save the flight's passengers and crew. That film and several more of Eastwood's epics are available now on Digital, DVD, and Blu-Ray.
