After Paw Patrol performed like gangbusters with the theatrical and Paramount+ day-and-date release strategy, the studio has announced that Clifford the Big Red will follow suit (via Deadline). That’s right, parents. You can either schlep the kids to a theater when “Big Red” comes bounding into cinemas or stay at home with a nice big bottle of wine. The choice is yours.
The decision to have Clifford go day-and-date was an easy one given that we’re still in a global pandemic. Plus, kids 6-11 still can’t get the vaccine, and Clifford needs his target audience if he’s to perform well. The way things currently stand, Clifford: The Big Red Dog will be released on November 10, both in theaters and on Paramount+.
Here’s the official synopsis for Clifford the Big Red Dog:
When middle-schooler Emily Elizabeth (Darby Camp) meets a magical animal rescuer (John Cleese) who gifts her a little, red puppy, she never anticipated waking up to find a giant ten-foot hound in her small New York City apartment. While her single mom (Sienna Guillory) is away for business, Emily and her fun but impulsive uncle Casey (Jack Whitehall) set out on an adventure that will keep you on the edge-of-your-seat as our heroes take a bite out of the Big Apple. Based on the beloved Scholastic book character, Clifford will teach the world how to love big!
