Netflix has announced that Claire Foy (SEASON OF THE WITCH), Matt Smith (Doctor Who) and John Lithgow (INTERSTELLAR) will star in a "decades-spanning drama about Queen Elizabeth II and the prime ministers who shaped post-war Britain."
Titled The Crown, the ten-episode series is described as a telling of "the inside story of two of the most famous addresses in the world — Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street — and the intrigues, romances and machinations behind the events that shaped the second half of the 20th century," and is based on the Peter Morgan play "The Audience." Morgan is writing the series, and it will be available on Netflix in 2016.
Foy has been cast as Queen Elizabeth II and Smith will play Philip Mountbatten, Duke of Edinburgh, while Lithgow will portray Winston Churchill. Does The Crown sound like your cup of tea?
Matt Smith can be seen nex in Alan Taylor's TERMINATOR: GENISYS on July 1, 2015, and Gavin O'Connor's THE ACCOUNTANT starring John Lithgow, Ben Affleck and Anna Kendrick is scheduled to open on January 29, 2016.
