Chucky TV series production delayed due to COVID, will still release in 2021

Not even Chucky can scare away COVID-19. It has been announced, via "Deadline", production of the new USA Network and Syfy CHILD'S PLAY series, Chucky, is delayed until 2021. The show was supposed to begin shooting in Toronto this fall.

Despite the delay in shooting, it's not expected to impact the debut date of the series and it's still on track to premiere in 2021. A few weeks ago a teaser trailer featuring everyone's favorite serial killer doll that is possessed by the soul of Charles Lee Ray was posted online and although it was short, it got fans excited for what's to come.

The series has no connection to last year's CHILD'S PLAY remake and is supposedly within the original franchise which began with the 1988 film and has spanned seven movies. Fan-favorite Brad Dourif will be reprising the vocal role of Chucky for the series and Jennifer Tilly, who played Tiffany Valentine in the BRIDE OF CHUCKY, SEED OF CHUCKY, CURSE OF CHUCKY, and CULT OF CHUCKY is also involved with the show.

Coming from CHILD'S PLAY creator Don Mancini and Channel Zero creator Nick Antosca, the series begins when a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale and an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.
