The Chucky TV series is now halfway through its eight episode run, and while it has been focusing on new characters and revealing more about the past of Charles Lee Ray, the serial killer who down inhabits the body of the Chucky doll, in the second half of the season we’ll be seeing returning characters Tiffany Valentine (Jennifer Tilly), Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif), Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), and Kyle (Christine Elise). Speaking with Showbiz Cheat Sheet, Tilly promised that she’s not just making a cameo. Tiffany is back “in all her glory”.
Tilly said,
When (Don Mancini) told me he was doing the TV series, I thought I was just going to wander through like Leonard Nimoy in the (J.J. Abrams) Star Trek movies, just get in the elevator and somebody go, ‘Ooh, is that Tiffany?’ like a cameo. So when I got the script and I saw the really amazing story arc he wrote for me, I was like I love Don Mancini. Don Mancini’s my best friend in the whole world. I think after Seed of Chucky, he was told by the studio, ‘Um, I think we have too much Jennifer Tilly in these movies.’ He brought me back and she’s back in all her glory. She’s just like campy, funny and bloodthirsty. All the things that are near and dear to my heart.”
Tilly also revealed that Tiffany has a sex scene in an upcoming episode, and she offered to do some nudity for the scene. Her offer was turned down because Chucky airs on commercial television.
A follow-up to all of the Child’s Play movies (remake excluded), Chucky picks up where Cult of Chucky left off. Don Mancini, who has written every Child’s Play film (except that remake) and directed a few of them, developed Chucky with producer David Kirschner. Mancini and Kirschner are executive producing Chucky with Harley Peyton, Alex Hedlund, and Nick Antosca. Mancini also directed the first episode. The show’s synopsis:
After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.
In addition to the actors mentioned above, the cast of the series includes Zackary Arthur, Devon Sawa (playing the dual role of twin brothers), Bjorgvin Arnarson, Jacob Breedon, Lexa Doig, Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Lind’s real-life mother Barbara Alyn Woods, with David Kohlsmith as a young Charles Lee Ray. And yes, Brad Dourif has again recorded the lines Chucky will be speaking.
Chucky airs both Syfy and USA Network, Tuesday nights at 10pm Eastern.
