The Child's Play franchise is set to continue with Chucky, an 8-episode TV series that will begin airing on Syfy and USA Network on October 12th. With just two and a half months to go before the premiere, a lengthy featurette has arrived online to give a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the show. If you're a fan of Chucky the killer doll and want to know more about what this show has in store for us, the 11 minute video embedded above is well worth checking out.
Don Mancini, who has written every Child's Play film (except for the remake) and directed a few of them, developed Chucky with producer David Kirschner. They are executive producing the show with Harley Peyton, Alex Hedlund, and Nick Antosca. Mancini also directed the first episode. The show's synopsis:
After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.
The cast of the series includes Zackary Arthur, Devon Sawa (playing the dual role of twin brothers), Fiona Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, Bjorgvin Arnarson, Jacob Breedon, Alex Vincent, Lexa Doig, Teo Briones, Christine Elise, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Lind's real-life mother Barbara Alyn Woods. David Kohlsmith is playing the young Charles Lee Ray, and you get to see a preview of his scenes in the featurette.
Brad Dourif is once again providing the voice of Chucky.
A follow-up to all of the Child's Play movies (except for that remake), Chucky picks up where Cult of Chucky left off.
