Apparently it was Chucky who poisoned the waterhole, as evidenced by the latest poster for Lars Klevberg's CHILD'S PLAY reboot that has the Good Guy doll taking the stuffing out of Toy Story's favorite cowpoke, Woody. Why the focus on Pixar's latest animation, you ask? Well, it could be that both films will be fighting for box office dominance on June 21st. That's right friends, both of the toy-inspired movies are opening on the same day, which places horror-centric parents in a rather compromising position. Do you hire a sitter and leave the kids at home for a gore-filled night with the red-headed bastard that terrorized you as a child or do you shelve Chucky's latest escapade in favor of Woody and the gang's latest adventure? As your attorney I feel that it's my job to remind you that Chucky does not care for competition, so you might want to plan for two trips to the cinema that weekend.

The upcoming film written by Tyler Burton Smith and based on characters created by Don Mancini stars Aubrey Plaza (PARKS AND RECREATION, LEGION), Brian Tyree Henry (SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE, HOTEL ARTEMIS), Gabriel Bateman (LIGHTS OUT, PLAYMOBIL: THE MOVIE), Tim Matheson (ANIMAL HOUSE, THE WST WING), and Mark Hamill (BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES, THE DARK CRYSTAL: AGE OF RESISTANCE) as the voice of Chucky.
Here's the official synopsis for CHILD'S PLAY:
A contemporary re-imagining of the 1988 horror classic, CHILD’S PLAY follows Karen (Aubrey Plaza), a single mother who gifts her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) a Buddi doll, unaware of its more sinister nature.
