James Gunn wasn't the only filmmaker to recently take part in an online Q&A. MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 5 director Christopher McQuarrie also did one over the weekend through his Twitter, where revealed a few things about the upcoming film.
According to Christopher McQuarrie, the first MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 5 trailer and poster will be released soon, and the official title for the movie will be announced in the near future as well. McQuarrie confirmed that Sean Harris is playing the film's villain, and says Paula Patton and Maggie Q were asked to return for the MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL sequel, but they couldn't due to scheduling conflicts
While the tone of the movie will be similar to GHOST PROTOCOL, the director did say that every "Mission has a life of its own and goes where it wants," McQuarrie also promised that MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 5 will feel like an episode of the television series, and there will be references to the previous MI flicks, including the original 1996 Brian De Palma film.
Jeremy Renner and Ving Rhames will have more screen time compared to GHOST PROTOCOL, and Simon Pegg's Benji will be spending more time in the field getting his hands dirty. As for last month's rumor about having to rewrite/reshoot the ending, McQuarrie says that's not the case, and that the finale just had to be prepped.
With MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 5 now opening this summer instead of during the holiday season, I imagine the first trailer for Christopher McQuarrie's new movie will be released within the next month or two. What do you think the subtitle will be for the fifth MI film?
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 5 is set to hit theaters (including IMAX screens) on July 31, 2015.
