There isn’t much left of 2022, but one of my most highly anticipated movies coming in what’s left of this year is writer/director Joe Begos‘s holiday horror film Christmas Bloody Christmas – which got an 8/10 review from our own JimmyO that you can read HERE. Now a trailer for Christmas Bloody Christmas has arrived online to give us a preview of what this film will have in store for us when it reaches theatres and the Shudder streaming service on December 9th. Check it out in the embed above!
Christmas Bloody Christmas has the following synopsis:
It’s Christmas Eve and fiery record store owner Tori Tooms just wants to get drunk and party, until the robotic Santa Claus at a nearby toy store goes haywire and makes her night more than a little complicated. Santa Claus begins a rampant killing spree through the neon-drenched snowscape against a backdrop of drugs, sex, metal and violence, ultimately forcing Tori into a blood-splattered battle for survival against the ruthless heavy metal Saint Nick himself.
The film stars Riley Dandy (That’s Amor), Jeff Daniel Phillips (Rob Zombie’s The Munsters), Abraham Benrubi (ER), Sam Delich (Spiderhead), Jonah Ray Rodrigues (Mystery Science Theater 3000), Dora Madison (Friday Night Lights), Jeremy Gardner (The Battery), Graham Skipper (Mystery Spot), Kansas Bowling (The Third Saturday in October Part V), Josh Ethier (Beyond the Gates), Elliott Gilbert (The Fandango Sisters), Adam Dietrich (The Vast of Night), Matt Mercer (Contracted), Aerial Washington (Fabulous High), and Begos himself.
Begos had this to say about his film: “Since I was a young kid I’ve dreamed of making both a crazy holiday horror movie unlike any other and a no-holds-barred killer robot flick, but never imagined I could make them the same movie. The maniacs at RLJE Films and Shudder have allowed this fantasy to play out and greenlit this neon-soaked robot fever dream, championing the choice to shoot on film and build a real-deal robot in 2022. This truly is the place to be making cool and original filmmaker driven genre films that, frankly, nobody else has the balls to finance.“
Begos previously directed Almost Human, The Mind’s Eye, Bliss, and VFW. I tend to really like his movies, which is why I’m so hyped for Christmas Bloody Christmas.
