While Batman’s current tenure with Robert Pattinson seems to be secured, a previous actor to don the cape and cowl is talking about what it would take for him to return to the role. Christian Bale played the character in The Dark Knight Trilogy, directed by Christopher Nolan, and he’s revealing that Nolan would have to be at the helm again for him to return.
While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, here is what Bale had to say about a possible Batman return:
“I had a pact with Chris Nolan. We said, ‘Hey, look. Let’s make three films, if we’re lucky enough to get to do that. And then let’s walk away. Let’s not linger too long.’ In my mind, it would be something if Chris Nolan ever said to himself, ‘You know what, I’ve got another story to tell.’ And if he wished to tell that story with me, I’d be in.”
I think Christopher Nolan doesn’t even have a new Batman film on his radar but it’s nice to hear that Christian Bale would be interested if Nolan was involved. I think they made three great films together and they all ended nicely but if there is a good story to tell for a possible return, I’d be interested in seeing how it all pans at.
Christian Bale recently told Variety that he has not seen The Batman yet but he did praise Robert Pattinson as an actor and he admitted he heard “wonderful things” about the film:
“I still haven’t seen it. I will see it. Listen mate, it’s amazing how few films I see. Every director I work with, I’ve seen a couple of their films and they’re always looking at me going, ‘Are you kidding?’ I like to really savor films and I don’t watch too many. But I will, I certainly will. Robert is an absolutely wonderful actor. We bumped into each other, talked a little bit about it ahead of time, and I heard wonderful things.”
