Not since last year, when Jackie Chan appeared on The Cruz Show with claims that a RUSH HOUR 4 is in the works, have we heard much else about the long-gestating sequel to the popular buddy comedy film series. In fact, before Chan made his announcement, many had assumed that the project was permanently stuck in traffic altogether.
And now, thanks to Chris Tucker's recent spot on ESPN's The Plug podcast, we appear to have a confirmation that the film is alive and well. While contributing to the program, the sqeaky-voiced comedian said the following about the long-awaited sequel's production, “It’s happening. This is gonna be the rush of all rushes.” Tucker continued, “Jackie is ready and we want to do this so that people don’t ever forget it.”
In the past, when being asked about the status of a fourth film in the RUSH HOUR franchise, Tucker stated that “For the last seven years, we’ve been turning down, turning down the script. But yesterday, we agreed.”
No other information about the film's production is available at this time.
Are you excited by the prospect of Chan and Tucker reuniting for another round of action, comedy, and racially insensitive dialogue? Tucker says the stars have aligned, though it will be quite interesting to see just how much the RUSH HOUR formula changes, given today's societal climate.
