A new poster for SPIRAL: FROM THE BOOK OF SAW has been released and it teases star Chris Rock coming upon what could be the first SAW victim since 2017.
In the film, Detective Ezekiel "Zeke" Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner William Schenk (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are reminiscent of the city's gruesome past. Soon they become unwittingly entrapped in the deepening mystery while Zeke finds himself at the center of the killers's twisted game.
The marketing for SPIRAL has been well done so far with a teaser trailer that built interest without giving away too much and the posters that have been released offer up a nice blend of the film's new style while also showing some visual flourishes that remind you that this is very much part of the SAW franchise. Beyond what we've seen so far, a lot of plot details haven't been released but given that the new murders are reminiscent of the past, it would appear that this film doesn't retcon the previous movies.
Also on.board for this new SAW ride is Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Rock's father Marcus. The character appears to be a veteran detective who is also on the hunt for the killer as well. Marisol Nichols also co-stars as Capt. Angie Garza. A familiar SAW veteran is returning to helm the film with director Darren Lynn Bousman making this his fourth go-round with the SAW franchise. Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger tackeled writing duties on the project while Chris Rock himself came up with the story. The actor is said to be a huge fan of the franchise & his story pitch to Lionsgate is what got this off the ground so quickly.
