That's right, y'all. The raptor buddies are hitting the road again in a sequel to JURASSIC WORLD, which has now become the third highest grossing film in history. The film, under the snappy working title JURASSIC WORLD SEQUEL, will be coming out on June 22, 2018 and is set to be written by JW director Colin Trevorrow, though no director has been officially attached yet.
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are also set to return as the raptor wrangler Owen Grady and the anthropomorhpic calculator Claire Dearing respectively. There's no word yet as to any other returning cast members or plot descriptions, though we certainly hope that we hear all the lurid details of Judy Greer's divorce, considering that it was so riveting the first time around.
It was certainly inevitable that JURASSIC WORLD was going to get a sequel (see: third highest grossing film of all time), but there's a good opportunity here to make something very special. There's a lot of room for improvement in the film and a lot of talent both behind and in front of the camera, so if everybody gets cracking in the amount of time they've been given, they might just outdo themselves. If they give Claire a haircut, ditch the high heels, and up the dino-amusement park mayhem, we may just have a bona fide classic on our hands.
