Now that James Gunn is shepherding the new DC Universe alongside Peter Safran, fans have wondered which of Gunn’s friends could join him. While speaking with CBR, Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt addressed the possibility of following Gunn to the DC Universe.
While Chris Pratt says James Gunn hasn’t offered him any roles in the DC Universe, he would certainly answer his call. “As far as DC characters pan, I don’t know,” Pratt said. “I will let the fans tell me what they would want me to do. I don’t have anything official to announce. I haven’t spoken to James Gunn in any capacity to where he’s offered me anything like that. But listen, I love the guy. You know, he’s one of my best friends. I totally believe in him. And if he calls me, I am answering.” One DC character who fans have said would be a good fit for Chris Pratt is Booster Gold, and it just so happens that a Booster Gold TV series is one of the projects included in Chapter One of the DCU.
Chris Pratt says he has spoken with James Gunn since the director took on the DC Studios gig. “Oh, my gosh. Oh, man. Of course, I’ve spoken to him,” Pratt said. “You know, I’m really happy for him, with the developments in his career. I think DC is super lucky to have him in that position. It’s hard for me to imagine a person, a better person for that role. He just loves comics.” Pratt has played Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for nearly a decade, but it’s possible that the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 could be his final film in the franchise. Several of the main actors, including Dave Bautista, have said that the threequel will be the last time they play their characters. The movie will hit theaters on May 5th.
Chris Pratt’s next project will be The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which hits theaters on April 5th. “While working underground to fix a water main, Brooklyn plumbers Mario (Chris Pratt) and brother Luigi (Charlie Day) are transported down a mysterious pipe and wander into a magical new world,” reads the official synopsis. “But when the brothers are separated, Mario embarks on an epic quest to find Luigi. With the assistance of a Mushroom Kingdom resident Toad (Keegan-Michael Key) and some training from the strong-willed ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy), Mario taps into his own power.“
