Anyone who forgot OUTLAW KING starring Chris Pine and directed by David Mackenzie (HELL OR HIGH WATER) was a thing then this last week was no doubt a big reminder. Not only did we get a new image, but we also learned the movie would be the opening movie at TIFF this year. Now to start the week we have the first trailer for the upcoming sword-and-shield epic, with Pine doing his best to be Mel Gibson in this decade’s BRAVEHEART.

The movie certainly calls to mind the kind of epics we don't see anymore, like GLADIATOR and the aforementioned BRAVEHEART. The spectacle looks rousing and the production design and costumes are immaculate, so this is looking to be an old-school epic that will remind of us of some of the best. It will be a shame most people have to watch this movie on Netflix, but those lucky enough should try and head to one of the select theaters it will drop at come November.
Here is the plot synopsis:
Outlaw King follows the untold, true story of Robert the Bruce, who transforms from defeated nobleman to outlaw hero during the oppressive occupation of medieval Scotland by Edward I of England. Despite grave consequences, Robert seizes the Scottish crown and rallies an impassioned group of men to fight back against the mighty army of the tyrannical King and his volatile son, the Prince of Wales.
OUTLAW KING also stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and will be on Netflix and in select theaters November 9.
