Chris Hemsworth praises “insane” Thor: Love and Thunder script

THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER is still in the beginning stages but that isn't stopping Chris Hemsworth from hyping up the  script, which he says is among the best he's ever read.

While out and about promoting his new Netflix film EXTRACTION, Hemsworth spoke with "The Philadelphia Inquirer" and was asked about the fourth installment of the THOR franchise and while he can't really say much, he's 100% behind where writer/director Taika Waititi is taking the project:

"It's one of the best scripts I've read in years. It's Taika at his most extreme, and at his best. If the version I read is the one we get running with, it's going to be pretty insane."

Taika Waititi previously took on 2017's THOR: RAGNAROK which brilliantly reinvented the franchise. Waititi himself has hinted that THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER is way more out there than the work he did on THOR: RAGNAROK and that seems to be a sentiment shared by Hemsworth take on the script. During a watch party for THOR: RAGNAROK Waititi did tease a surprising redesign for the character Miek, as well as a look at New Asgard. As for the "insane" nature of it all, Taika Waititi also spoke to that, teasing that space sharks, sometimes referred to as Starsharks in the pages of Marvel Comics, will be involved. Some fans will like that we're getting RAGNAROK times ten while others may be concerned that it could become too much of a farce. Hopefully Waititi does find the right balance so it doesn't go too far over the top. Waitit will be returning to write the sequel alongside co-writer Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.

Chris Hemsworth also touched on the uncertain future of the box office in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and he thinks the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be a big part of getting theaters up and running again once this is all over, despite concerns that Marvel movies take up too much real estate at the multiplex:

I hear those concerns, too. That [the MCU] takes up so much real estate, [and] is there enough room "for the other things to exist, the art house films and the smaller films we love and admire equally… Films [like Marvel] that you can best appreciate on the big screen, those will draw people out of their homes again. I'm with you on that."

THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER will also be bringing back Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, who will be taking up the mantle of Thor, as well as Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie. Christian Bale is on board as the film's villain although who he is exactly playing remains a mystery. I personally liked what Waititi did with THOR: RAGNAROK so when I hear adjective like "insane" to describe his screenplay, it just hypes me up even more. Do YOU think Waititi may go a bit too far with it or do YOU trust his instincts on the project?

THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER hits screens on February 18, 2022.
