The first trailer for director Nicolai Fuglsig's true story war film 12 STRONG: THE DECLASSIFIED TRUE STORY OF THE HORSE SOLDIERS finally has its boots on the ground online. Based on the book Horse Soldiers by Doug Stanton, the film tells the story of how after the events of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center in New York, a group of CIA paramilitary officers together with US Special Forces touch down in Afghanistan to join a man by the name of General Abdul Rashid Dostum in the fight against the Taliban.
For more information about the film, be sure to check out Matt Rooney's visit to the set of 12 STRONG right here.
Written for the screen by Peter Craig (THE TOWN, BLOOD FATHER) and Ted Tally (THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS), the film features an impressive ensemble cast of which includes Chris Hemsworth, Michael Shannon, Michael Peña, Austin Stowell, Trevante Rhodes, and Rob Riggle.
From what I can glean courtesy of the above trailer, 12 STRONG looks be packing an explosive, emotional gut punch in conjunction with the film's pulse-pounding wartime action. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and with cinematography by Rasmus Videbæk, 12 STRONG: THE DECLASSIFIED TRUE STORY OF THE HORSE SOLDIERS hopes to share a tale of bravery and sacrifice when it marches into theaters on January 19, 2018.
