Chris Hardwick regularly discusses horror television as host of the AMC show The Talking Dead, which is dedicated to The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead. Now he is set to make some horror of his own, signing a three picture deal with Blumhouse Productions.
Hardwick will be producing the Blumhouse genre films through his newly formed company Spitball and will be directing at least one of them.
Hardwick had this to say about the deal:
I'm a die-hard horror fan and have always wanted to be in the horror business. Jason is an amazing entrepreneur, a super nice guy, and a brilliant producer who is responsible for putting out several of my favorite films, so I am beyond excited for this partnership!"
Blumhouse head Jason Blum released a statement of his own, revealing that the idea for the partnership occurred to him while he was being interviewed on Hardwick's Nerdist podcast.
I was so inspired talking genre films with Chris on Nerdist, that by the end of the interview I asked if he would consider doing a film with us. We met one more time later in the week and decided to make two more. Chris is a passionate genre fan and I feel lucky to be in business with him."
Hardwick has previously ventured into the world of horror features as an actor in the Rob Zombie films HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES (pictured above), where he was one of the victims of the Firefly family, and HALLOWEEN II, in which he played a talk show host.
We'll keep you updated as we hear more about the projects Blumhouse and Spitball will be working on together.
