Last year we shared the news that FRIGHT NIGHT director Tom Holland had signed on to write and direct a big-screen adaptation of the Stephen King story THE TEN O'CLOCK PEOPLE with Justin Long set to take the lead role. Today we've learned that scheduling conflicts will keep Long from committing to the project but CAPTAIN AMERICA star Chris Evans has swooped in to save the day, taking over the lead role of Brandon Pearson, a man attempting to give up smoking, only to find that the resulting chemical imbalance causes some interesting side effects.
Per Deadline, the plan is to shoot THE TEN O'CLOCK PEOPLE, an adaptation of King's short story of the same name that was first published in The Master's "Nightmares and Dreamscapes" in 1993, this fall in Atlanta. The story concerns…
Thanks to his nicotine-craving brain and now-limited smoking habit, Brandon is somehow able to see certain people for who they really are. He discovers to his horror that some in positions of power (including his own boss) aren’t human at all, but are creatures called “batmen” who are slowly taking over the planet. Encouraged to join a group looking to stop them, his paranoia grows.
Ah, the horrors of quitting smoking. I can relate.
Pascal Borno and Scott Karol’s Conquistador Entertainment, Holland’s Dead Rabbit Films, and E.J. Meyers (who co-wrote the script with Holland), Robin Reitman, and Nathaniel Kramer’s Making Ten O’Clock Productions will produce the film.
More on THE TEN O'CLOCK PEOPLE as we hear it.
