Deadline reports that Chris Evans is in final negotiations to join Emily Blunt in Netflix’s Pain Hustlers, a drama said to be in the same vein as The Big Short, The Wolf of Wall Street, and American Hustle.
Pain Hustlers focuses on Liza Drake (Blunt), “a high-school dropout dreaming of a better life for her and her young daughter, who lands a job with a failing pharmaceutical start-up in a yellowing strip mall in Central Florida. Liza’s charm, guts and drive catapult the company and her into the high life, where she soon finds herself at the center of a criminal conspiracy with deadly consequences.” No word on who Chris Evans would be playing in Pain Hustlers. Production is expected to kick off in late August with David Yates (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore) directing from a script by Wells Tower.
Before Chris Evans joins Emily Blunt on Pain Hustlers, he’ll be seen starring alongside Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas in The Gray Man, an action-thriller from the Russo Brothers. “The Gray Man is CIA operative Court Gentry (Gosling), aka, Sierra Six,” reads the official synopsis. “Plucked from a federal penitentiary and recruited by his handler, Donald Fitzroy (Billy Bob Thornton), Gentry was once a highly-skilled, Agency-sanctioned merchant of death. But now the tables have turned and Six is the target, hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Evans), a former cohort at the CIA, who will stop at nothing to take him out. Agent Dani Miranda (Armas) has his back. He’ll need it.” The Gray Man will hit select theaters on July 15th, followed by a Netflix release on July 22nd. As for Emily Blunt, she was recently seen in Disney’s Jungle Cruise with Dwayne Johnson and will next be seen starring alongside Cillian Murphy in Christopher Nolan’s star-studded Oppenheimer movie.
