In the midst of Pixar's new slate of projects that were announced during the Disney Investors Day live-stream came the surprising news that Chris Evans (Avengers: Endgame) would be voicing Buzz Lightyear in a new Pixar movie, but before you start thinking that this is another Toy Story film, it's not.
As Buzz Lightyear is a toy, it stands to reason that he's based on a real-life person, and that's preciously what the new film will deal with. Chris Evans will be starring in Lightyear as the "young test pilot that became the Space Ranger we all know him to be today." Pixar also dropped the first look at the titular Space Ranger, who now looks far more detailed than his plastic counterpart.
Tim Allen voiced the character of Buzz Lightyear throughout the Toy Story films, but it stands to reason that Lightyear will be a very different beast. The film is slated to hit theaters on June 17, 2022.
