The MPAA strikes hard, but ChromeSkull is ready to strike back even harder! CHROMESKULL: LAID TO REST 2 director Robert Hall spoke to our friends at Dread Central about his recent experience with the MPAA. They slapped the dreaded NC-17 rating on his gory flick, but Hall says that it will be released in both its unrated cut and an edited, R-rated version:
“I think it’s great the MPAA had a problem with almost every kill in the film. If they didn’t, we wouldn’t have done our jobs correctly. They have a job to do, and so do I … and luckily Image has been super supportive and has committed to releasing the film UNRATED and on Blu-ray, which makes me happy. Just to clarify, there will be a rated R cut as well, but I think most outlets will prefer the hardcore unrated cut… I know I do.”
Hall co-wrote the script for his sequel to 2009’s LAID TO REST with Kevin Bocarde. It stars Brian Austin Green, Owain Yeoman, Thomas Dekker, Mimi Michaels, Nick Principe, Danielle Harris, Gail O’Grady, Chris Nelson, Brett Wagner, Aimee Lynn Chadwick and Angelina Armani (below).
ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2 picks up three months after we last left ChromeSkull at the end of the original Laid to Rest. Tommy, who’s struggling to come to terms with his encounter with the masked killer, has now gone missing courtesy of the maniacal Preston, a mysterious player in the sequel with a sinister connection to ChromeSkull. Meanwhile, our killer has set his sights on a new girl, Jess, and after the young girl disappears, Detective King must race against the clock to find her and Tommy before it’s too late and try to put an end to ChromeSkull’s deadly legacy.
The slasher will be released on September 20 via Image Entertainment. Pre-order the R-rated DVD HERE, the unrated DVD HERE or the unrated Blu-ray HERE.
