Chloe Sevigny, Kristen Stewart wrap on lesbian Lizzie Borden movie

The story of Lizzie Borden, who "took an axe and gave her mother 40 whacks," has been adapted into many a film and TV series, but an intriguing new incarnation just wrapped production in Savannah, Georgia. LIZZIE, which was directed by Craig William Macneill (THE BOY, not the doll one) stars Chloe Sevigny and Kristen Stewart, and the tale it tells is… different, to say the least.

The gothic thriller, which was written by Bryce Kass, will have a lesbian element, or so claims the synopsis:

explores the events that led up to the notorious murders of the infamous Borden family and reveals the many layers of the strange, fragile woman who stood accused of their brutal murder. When Bridget Sullivan, a young maid, comes to work for the Borden family, Lizzie finds a sympathetic and kindred spirit, and what begins as innocent companionship eventually escalates into attraction, love, and bloody vengeance.

Now that's a twist that'll get butts in seats.

LIZZIE also stars Fiona Shaw (HARRY POTTER, Channel Zero), Jamey Sheridan (The Stand), Kim Dickens (Fear the Walking Dead), Denis O’Hare (American Horror Story) and Jeff Perry (Scandal).

The film is produced by Destro Films' Liz Destro, Artina Films' Naomi Despres, Chloe Sevigny, and Josh Bachove.
