Chloë Grace Moretz is quickly making a new name for herself in our beloved genre. She just had a mysterious role in director Luca Guadagnino’s remake of Dario Argento's SUSPIRIA, and can next be seen starring alongside Isabelle Huppert in the thriller GRETA. Not to mention she had a classic role in director Matt Reeves's remake of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, and also starred in THE AMITYVILLE HORROR, WICKED LITTLE THINGS, THE EYE, TEXAS KILLING FIELDS, DARK SHADOWS (see above), CARRIE, and DARK PLACES. That's a lot of horrors, little lady. And today, Moretz is adding another genre flick to her plate as we just got word she will be starring the new action-thriller SHADOW IN THE CLOUD.
Here's the synopsis:
There’s more to fear than the enemy. Captain Maude Gardner boards a B-17 Flying Fortress, clutching a black radio bag with top-secret contents and orders authorizing her transport. As Maude puts up with jeers from the leery, all-male crew, strange happenings begin to occur and they realize that something is lurking within the shadows. Crushed between an oncoming Japanese ambush and an evil prowling within, Maude must push her limits to save the hapless crew and to protect her mysterious cargo.
The movie is based on a screenplay written by Max Landis, who is a man we all know for penning the scripts to such films as CHRONICLE, BRIGHT, and the upcoming remake of his father's classic werewolf horror-comedy AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, which he's also set to direct. Landis, however, will not be taking the helm of this film. That's a job that has been assigned to Roseanne Liang. Liang is a Chinese/New Zealand writer and director whose first feature film, MY WEDDING AND OTHER SECRETS, became New Zealand’s highest grossing local feature film in 2011. Her other credits include the short film DO NO HARM, which Liang is directing a feature-length version and upcoming action thriller FUSE.
Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (SINISTER), Fred Berger (THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE), Kelly McCormick (ATOMIC BLONDE) and Tom Hern (GUNS AKIMBO) are producing the film. Sandra Yee Ling is executive producing. How does this movie sound to you thus far? Let us know below!
