The next batch of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina episodes are set to reach the Netflix streaming service on January 24th, and when the show returns it will feature some new characters.
Skye P. Marshall of Black Lightning has signed on to appear in the new episodes as a voodoo priestess called Mambo Marie. She'll be helping "Prudence Blackwood (Tati Gabrielle) and Ambrose Spellman (Chance Perdomo) track down the villainous Father Blackwood (Richard Coyle)."
Series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has confirmed that characters will be venturing into Hell over the course of these episodes, so it's no surprise to hear that a Prince of Hell has been added to the cast. This guy is named Caliban and will be played by newcomer Sam Corlett. Caliban "challenges Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka) for the Throne of Hell, but also has chemistry with the teen witch."
Theo Putnam (Lachlan Watson) will also be getting a love interest, as Johnathan Whitesell of The 100 and Riverdale has signed on to play Robin, "a young man who travels with a carnival that comes to Greendale. The character develops feelings for Theo."
This batch of episodes will find Sabrina reeling from the events she has experienced in previous episodes.
Though she defeated her father Lucifer, the Dark Lord remains trapped within the human prison of her beloved boyfriend, Nicholas Scratch. Sabrina can't live with herself, knowing that Nick made the ultimate sacrifice and is suffering, burning in Hell under Madam Satan’s watchful eye. So with an assist from her mortal friends, “The Fright Club” (consisting of Harvey, Rosalind, and Theo), Sabrina makes it her mission to free him from eternal damnation and bring him back into her arms. However, the Dark Lord's unseating has sent shockwaves through the realms—and, with no one on the throne, Sabrina must assume the title of “Queen” to defend it against a challenger, the handsome Prince of Hell Caliban. Meanwhile, in Greendale, a mysterious carnival rolls into town, bringing with it a threat to the Spellmans and the coven: A tribe of pagans looking to resurrect an ancient evil…
The actors mentioned above are joined in the cast by Miranda Otto as Sabrina's disciplinarian aunt Zelda; Lucy Davis as her nurturing aunt Hilda; Gavin Leatherwood as warlock Nicholas Scratch; Ross Lynch as her pal Harvey Kinkle; and Jaz Sinclair as her best friend Rosalind Walker.
