Child’s Play featurette explores the rebooted Chucky’s AI gone mad

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Unlike the original film, in which Chucky is the result of a serial killer performing a voodoo ritual in order to transfer his soul into a Good Guy doll, the upcoming CHILD'S PLAY remake gives Chucky a more high-tech makeover. This time around, Chucky is a robot doll gone amok with the ability to control other smart-devices. Orion Pictures have released a new featurette which dives into the remake's world of artificial intelligence gone mad.

The contemporary re-imagining of the 1988 horror classic follows Karen (Aubrey Plaza), a single mother who gifts her son Andy (Bateman) a Buddi doll, unaware of its more sinister nature. That doll is voiced by the legendary Mark Hamill this time around, and producer Seth Grahame-Smith has said that he was their "first choice," adding, "The fact that we have an icon reimagining an iconic character is just an incredible gift for us."

CHILD'S PLAY will hit theaters on June 21st.
