Child’s Play 2 (1990) – Real Slashers

The time has come for a new episode in our Real Slashers video series, and this time we’re looking at a movie that features an iconic slasher franchise star who was first introduced to us in the 1980s and is still around today: Chucky! While Chucky claims new victims on the small screen in his own Syfy / USA Network TV series (appropriately titled Chucky), we’re looking back at a time when he was tormenting his prey on the big screen: the Real Slashers episode embedded above is all about the 1990 release Child’s Play 2! (Watch it HERE).

Directed by John Lafia from a screenplay by Don Mancini, Child’s Play 2 has the following synopsis:

Two years after serial killer Charles Lee Ray inserted his soul into a Chucky doll, a toy company attempts to re-create the doll, bringing Ray back in the process. The possessed doll, intent on claiming a human body, kills his way toward former owner Andy, who now lives in a foster home. Andy’s foster sister, Kyle, tries to protect him, but his foster parents believe Andy is just a troubled kid — and Chucky’s murderous path continues.

The film stars Alex Vincent, Christine Elise, Jenny Agutter, Gerrit Graham, and Grace Zabriskie, with Brad Dourif providing the voice of Chucky.

Here’s what Real Slashers is all about:

Ahhh the 80’s. A simpler time where the blood ran red, the boobies swung freely, and the weed was copiously smoked. A time where rampant killers were simply excuses for excessive sex and over the top murder. Yes, we’re looking at an era where the slasher movie ran wild over cinemas everywhere. Today, we’re looking at “Real Slashers.”

The show is Written, Narrated, and Edited by Tyler Nichols, Produced by John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
