After playing the father of Jason Momoa’s character in Aquaman, Temuera Morrison is set to reunite with the actor for the upcoming Apple TV limited series Chief of War. The nine-episode historical drama will follow the unification and colonization of Hawaii from an indigenous point of view.

Temuera Morrison will play King Kahekili in Chief of War, the King of Maui. In addition to starring in Chief of War, Jason Momoa will also co-write and executive produce the eight-episode series. Doug Jung is attached to serve as showrunner of the Apple series, with Jason Momoa writing alongside Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, who will also executive produce alongside Francis Lawrence, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Erik Holmberg, and Doug Jung. Pachinko director Justin Chon will helm the first two episodes and also serve as executive producer. Chief of War would be Jason Momoa’s first time writing for television, but he previously co-wrote, directed, and starred in the film Road to Paloma.

Chief of War won’t be the first time we see Temuera Morrison and Jason Momoa reuniting, as the pair will also be seen in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, set to hit theaters on December 25, 2023. Morrison also recently reprised his role of Boba Fett for The Book of Boba Fett series on Disney+. There’s no word on a second season of the Boba Fett series, but Morrison has said that he hopes the old, badass Fett can make a return. “We’ve got to bring him back somewhere,” Morrison said. “We’ve got to see the old Boba Fett. We reintroduced him. We found out some stuff. But I think it’s time to get him back to his badass ways. No two ways around that. So, I think we sort of have that scope to go back there, but that’s out of my control. I’ll just see what happens.
