The upcoming UNTITLED HAN SOLO MOVIE isn’t just the tale of a young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich), but also about a young Chewbacca as well. You wouldn’t think the character ages, as he looked the exact same while Han eventually turned into the grizzled, white-haired hero (Harrison Ford) we saw in FORCE AWAKENS. Nevertheless, a picture of him on the set of SOLO has come out, and Chewie (Joonas Suotamo) certainly looks more youthful than we’ve ever seen him. By that I mean his furry coat is looking quite shiny and smooth as silk.

Those who are up on their STAR WARS lore know that technically we have already seen a younger Chewie. He’s there when Yoda visits Kashyyyk during the events of REVENGE OF THE SITH, and even says goodbye to the lovable Wookie before heading off. What can we say? Chewie is a people person.
Chewie’s look has remained pretty consistent over the years, so I don’t think people will notice if the character is sporting fewer gray hairs in this prequel film. What matters is the dynamic between Han and Chewie, and how that worked in their early years is what I’m most anxious to see in the film. But now all I’m thinking about is a CHEWBACCA: THE COLLEGE YEARS film…
HAN SOLO is set for May 25, 2018.
