Check out two new images from Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium

One film we’re really looking forward to checking out is Neill Blomkamp’s ELYSIUM, a flick that looks to carry on the smart sci-fi edge that the director blew audiences away with in DISTRICT 9. The film was originally slated to have hit cinemas in March, but Sony Pictures decided it would fare better during the summer movie season, scheduling the flick to open on August 9th. Hopefully it will be worth the wait.

Today we have two new images from the film, which you can check out below.

In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

ELYSIUM stars Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga, William Fichtner and Wagner Moura. Watch for it to hit theaters on August 9 2013.

ELYSIUM star Sharlto Copley as Kruger, described as a ‘black-ops military nutbag’.
