Check out three new TV spots for the Robocop remake or there will be trouble

The ROBOCOP remake is just over a month away and the promotional campaign is kicking into high gear. Today, we have three new TV spots for the film, two of them being international, showing off the action and robotics of the toned-down actioner, which faces an uphill battle against Paul Verhoeven‘s 1987 original. Starring Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael K. Williams, Jay Baruchel, Miguel Ferrer, Jennifer Ehle, and Samuel L. Jackson, the José Padilha-directed flick shows some promise, but also has a lot to prove.

Dead or alive yo-yeah, you get it:

Here’s the synopsis:

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

I’m still not completely swayed to see this in theaters and will need to hear some reactions from trusted reviewers before I hit the theater. In many ways I feel like I’d be betraying Verhoeven by seeing this, but that didn’t stop me from seeing the regrettable TOTAL RECALL remake. All that said, there is always the chance, even if very slim, that this could turn out to be something really cool. I’m not holding my breath, but remain hopeful.

ROBOCOP opens on February 12, 2014.
