In the vast realm of nerd culture I believe that many people have what I call The List. The List is essentially a catalog of geeky items you'd own and display if you had unlimited resources. Perhaps it's a collection of authentic swords from Game of Thrones. Perhaps it's worn and autographed Star Fleet uniforms from The Next Generation. Or perhaps it's mint condition rare comicbooks. Regardless, for most of us The List remains exactly that: a list. Accumulating vast amounts of wealth just isn't in the cards for most people, statistically speaking. However, just because we can't buy the real Batmobile, doesn't mean we can't marvel at the people who can.
Such is the case with the following display of nerdy awesomeness. A certain person in Los Angeles has put up their 18,200 square foot home for sale. The home carries with it your typical standard fare for the elite: giant swimming pool, tennis court, ornate marble kitchen, wine collection, etc. Extravagant but not uncommon for the wealthy. However, what is uncommon is this person's basement, or should I say museum. While most people are content with having a souped up man cave, this individual decided to take their love of STAR WARS to the next level displaying items that would make George Lucas blush. Among this glorious tribute to a galaxy far, far away are recreations of the bounty hunters Bossk and IG-88 from THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, a bar decked out with characters from the Mos Eisley cantina, and numerous toys and posters. Hell there's even a 1/6 scale X-Wing fighter. And that entertainment room! Are you kidding me??? Not only is it a recreation of the interior design of STAR WARS starships, it has a faux night sky on the ceiling. I seriously I would never leave that room.
Although I'm usually not all for extravagant displays of wealth, I have to say I admire this person's STAR WARS passion. Only someone who truly truly loved the franchise would ever be this meticulous. It's clear they are concerned with every detail, no matter how minor. Kudos to the neat and precise display of these items as well. I just have numerous unboxed Funko Pops lying on my desk. This puts me to shame.
In case you were considering purchasing this palatial tribute to all things STAR WARS, be prepared to break the bank. The price tag is a whopping $26.5 million. In other words you better break out your beskar metal and hit the pawn shop if you want to own this bad boy. Me, I'm just going to add this stuff to my increasingly growing List.
