Jonas Åkerlund's POLAR starring Mads Mikkelsen will be hitting Netflix later this month. The film follows Mikkelsen as (stop me if you've heard this one) a hitman settling into retirement and who is then forced back into the game to go head to head with an army of younger, faster, ruthless killers who will stop at nothing. Moo-Haha. But really, all they had to say was "Hannibal Lector as a badass hitman" and I would have been there with bells on. Sounds like good times to me!

And if you're as into the idea of Mikkelsen the killer hitman as I am, then you'll want to make sure and check out the new movie's trailer and poster below. For those who might not know (like me) the movie is based on the Dark Horse graphic novel “Polar: Came from the Cold” by Victor Santos. Add to all of that, the new Netflix Original Movie co-stars Katheryn Winnick (THE DARK TOWER, SATAN'S LITTLE HELPER), Johnny Knoxville (?), and Richard Dreyfuss (JAWS, JAWS, and JAWS).

Here's the movie's full synopsis:

The world’s top assassin, Duncan Vizla, aka The Black Kaiser, is settling into retirement when his former employer marks him as a liability to the firm. Against his will, he finds himself back in the game going head to head with an army of younger, faster, ruthless killers who will stop at nothing to have him silenced. 

Directed by Jonas Åkerlund, POLAR is written by Jayson Rothwell and produced by Jeremy Bolt, Robert Kulzer, and Hartley Gorenstein. The cast includes Mads Mikkelsen, Vanessa Hudgens, Katheryn Winnick, Matt Lucas, Ruby O. Fee, Fei Ren, Anthony Grant, Josh Cruddas, Robert Maillet, Julian Richings, Johnny Knoxville, and Richard Dreyfuss. Polar is based on upon the Dark Horse graphic novel “Polar: Came from the Cold” by Victor Santos. POLAR will debut exclusively on Netflix Friday, January 25th.
