Just recently, a batch of character posters debuted for SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin, Rosario Dawson, and Jessica Alba. Noticeably absent from the group was the titular dame embodied by Eva Green. Now, we know why.
Page Six has unveiled the Ava Lord poster showing a very sexy Eva Green which was banned by the MPAA because it shows too much bewbage. Specifically, their rationale for not allowing the one sheet was as follows:
“for nudity — curve of under breast and dark nipple/areola circle visible through sheer gown.”
Now, I am all for protecting the eyes of young children in line to see RIO 2 at their local multiplex but this is a little ridiculous. I mean, there are posters for horror movies with disturbing visuals that put this poster to shame. Plus, there is nothing on this poster that is any more revealing that half of the magazines on display at checkout counters at every supermarket in the nation. I mean, I am pretty sure everyone knows what boobs look like. Is this really worth banning?
If anything, I would venture to guess that Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller just got some added media attention for the upcoming release of the movie. SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR hits theaters on August 22, 2014.
