Call me what you like, but I love me some Wes Anderson movies. THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS holds a special place in my heart and I will forever be a fan of RUSHMORE. I feel that Anderson has slipped a bit in recent years until MOONRISE KINGDOM brought him right back to the top of his game. His next film, THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, is looking to be a winner. His collaborator and friend, Roman Coppola, made a very Anderson-esque film with A GLIMPSE INSIDE THE MIND OF CHARLES SWANN III, and the two are back together for a short film inspired by the new Prada perfume, Candy.
The short/commercial stars Lea Seydoux, the sexy French actress who has appeared stateside in ROBIN HOOD, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL, and MIDNIGHT IN PARIS. Here, she plays the personification of the perfume who comes between two best friends. The movie plays like an homage to the French New Wave with a distinctly Anderson style. Check out the first two parts of the film below.
I cannot say how THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL will feel in terms of tone, but now I am dying for Anderson and Coppola to team up for a full length movie with this look and feel, even if it is fully subtitled in French. What do you think?
