You certainly can't say that The CW's upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths mega-crossover isn't ambitious; In addition to bringing Supergirl, Batwoman, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow together, the crossover event will also be bringing in characters from across the DC Universe, including multiple incarnations of Superman, played by Brandon Routh, Tom Welling, and Tyler Hoechlin, as well as numerous special appearances from other DC royalty.
Naturally, all these heroes need someone to face off against, and the big-bad of Crisis on Infinite Earths is the Anti-Monitor (LaMonica Garrett). Entertainment Weekly has the first look at the villain. Check him out below!
Looks like a futuristic White Walker. In Marv Wolfman and George Pérez’s Crisis on Infinite Earths comic series, it was revealed that the Anti-Monitor, as well as the Monitor, had been around since the beginning of the universe. representing the positive matter and anti-matter universes. "Millions of years ago, they waged a war that knocked them both unconscious for millions of years until Pariah’s experiments on the multiverse woke them up. From there, the Anti-Monitor started consuming positive matter universes, which increased his power, and the Monitor recruited Earth’s heroes and villains to fight him and prevent the destruction of the multiverse." Although I don't watch any of the shows which will be making up Crisis on Infinite Earths, I must admit that I'm quite curious to see how they pull all of this together. Arrowverse executive producer Greg Berlanti said that they're doing all they can to honour the original story.
I never feel anything other than a sense of responsibility. Whenever we do an iconic story line or we do something that reminds us really vividly of one of those books that meant a lot to us, we have a sense of pressure and obligation of ‘Oh wow, we really don’t want to mess this up’ even more so than we usually do. So that fear overrides any kind of other emotion. It’s the closest I ever feel to being a kid again, without a doubt. You just get the same sensation, and you didn’t even realize that you locked it up and put it away.
As I mentioned above, Crisis on Infinite Earths will also feature Tom Welling, who played the role of Clark Kent for ten seasons on Smallville. Erica Durance, who played Lois Lane on Smallville, is also set to reprise her role as well. Further guest-stars include Kevin Conroy as Bruce Wayne, Jon Cryer as Lex Luther, Johnathon Schaech as Jonah Hex, Erica Durance and Bitsie Tulloch as Lois Lane, and Ashley Scott as Huntress, with Black Lightning's Cress Williams, The Flash's John Wesley Shipp, and Batman's Burt Ward also set to make appearances.
The Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover will begin with Supergirl on December 8th, before continuing with Batwoman on December 9th, The Flash on December 10th, and will take a break until the new year when it picks up with Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow on January 14, 2020.
