Check out new photos from the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones

When Game of Thrones first premiered on HBO back 2011, I was somehow completely unfamiliar with George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" fantasy series. Over the course of seven seasons of untrustworthy alliances, brutal betrayals, and fantastic characters, I quickly grew to love the world which Martin created. In just a few short months, the story of Game of Thrones will be coming to an end with the eighth and final season of the blockbuster HBO series. We haven't seen much of these final six episodes, but HBO have revealed a handful of new photos which gives us a glimpse at characters such as Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), and more.

Check them out!

Beyond a few new costumes, there's not much that these photos can tell us, but as it's Game of Thrones, I'll take what I can get. We're heard plenty about just how epic these final episodes will be, including from HBO CEO Richard Plepler, who compared each episode to a full-fledged movie.

It’s a spectacle. The guys have done six movies. The reaction I had while watching them was, 'I’m watching a movie.' [David Benioff and D.B. Weiss] knew the bar was high. They’ve exceeded the bar. I’ve watched them twice without any CGI and I’m in awe. Everybody’s in for an extraordinary treat of storytelling and of magical, magical production.

The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will debut on HBO on April 14, 2019.
