Each Christopher Nolan film seems to become a bigger and bigger event, and that's certainly the case for TENET, Nolan's upcoming film which has the added pressure of "saving theaters" following the months-long shutdown due to COVID-19. Comparing to other major blockbusters, we still don't know all that much about TENET, but actor Kenneth Branagh described the film to Entertainment Weekly as "an espionage piece that’s dealing with a global threat to the world," adding that "A nuclear holocaust is not the greatest disaster that could befall the human race. Tenet discusses an even worse possibility, and it is wrapped up in this mind-boggling treatment of time that continues Chris Nolan’s preoccupations in films way back to Memento, through Interstellar and Inception."

Speaking of Entertainment Weekly, they've also released a handful of new pictures from the film, which you can check out below.

Although many have assumed that the plot of TENET has something to do with time-travel, Christopher Nolan told EW that TENET is "not a time-travel film." Instead, "It deals with time and the different ways in which time can function. Not to get into a physics lesson, but inversion is this idea of material that has had its entropy inverted, so it’s running backwards through time, relative to us." The concept of inversion is said to be inspired by real-life physics and entropy, "a measure of disorder and randomness in thermodynamic systems."

TENET is currently set to hit theaters on July 31, 2020.
