Check out Joel Kinnaman before he becomes Robocop in the trailer for Easy Money

While I may be one of the only people who actually watched both seasons of THE KILLING, I was also one of the lucky ones to discover Joel Kinnaman. His portrayal of a recovering addict and detective was the highlight of the dreary show. I knew from the first episode that this guy was going to be someone to watch. Then the news broke that he was going to be ROBOCOP and everyone else started paying attention.

But Kinnaman has been a star in his native Sweden for years. Just check out the trailer for EASY MONEY (SNABBA CASH) which is being brought to the States courtesy of Martin Scorcese and The Weinstein Company.

Plot: Directed by Daniêl Espinosa (Safe House), EASY MONEY is a Swedish crime thriller based on the international best-selling novel Snabba Cash by Jens Lapidus. Lower-class business student JW (Joel Kinnaman from AMC’s ‘The Killing’) falls in love with a sexy heiress while living a double life mingling with Stockholm’s wealthy elite. To keep up the façade of his lifestyle, he’s lured into a world of crime. Jorge is a petty fugitive on the run from both the police and Serbian mafia. He hopes that brokering a massive cocaine deal will allow him to escape for good. Mafia enforcer Mrado is on the hunt for Jorge, but his efforts are complicated when he’s unexpectedly saddled with caring for his young daughter. As JW’s journey ventures deeper into the dark world of organized crime, the fate of all three men becomes entangled and ends with a dramatic struggle for life and death.

This movie looks like a cross between a Bret Easton Ellis story and a Martin Scorcese film. Kinnaman strikes me the same way that Christian Bale did when he starred in AMERICAN PSYCHO. EASY MONEY (SNABBA CASH) looks like a winner.

Check out EASY MONEY (SNABBA CASH) when it hits theaters on July 11th.
