The second season of Amazon Prime's The Boys will debut early next month, bringing a fresh helping of gruesome superhero-fueled action. The new season will also feature one of cinema's original X-MEN as Shawn Ashmore (Iceman) is slated to play Lamplighter, a former superstar member of the Seven whose departure from the team led to Starlight replacing him in the very first episode.
According to Amazon's character description, Lamplighter ties directly to the tragic history of the Boys as he was actually the reason they broke up years ago. So when he enters their lives once again, he dredges up painful memories, pokes at their raw nerves, and changes everything. You can check out a first look of Shawn Ashmore as Lamplighter below.
"We were thrilled that Shawn — who is, let’s be honest, an OG superhero — wanted to play the crucial part of Lamplighter," showrunner Eric Kripke said in a statement. "He brings so much depth, menace, and world weary humanity to this former member of the Seven. And Shawn is a really good guy. We’re grateful to have him join our bloody little family." It's already been announced that Amazon has renewed The Boys for a third season.
The second season of The Boys will debut on Amazon Prime on September 4, 2020.
