Next week will see the release of Guy Ritchie's KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD, an origin story which will focus on a streetwise young Arthur (Charlie Hunnam) who is unaware of the life he was born for until he grasps hold of the sword Excalibur. After throwing in with the Resistance as well as a young woman named Guinevere (Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey), Arthur sets out to master the sword, face his demons and unite the people to defeat the tyrant Vortigern (Jude Law), the man who stole his crown and murdered his parents. The film is clearly being positioned as the potential beginning of a brand-new franchise, although director Guy Ritchie recently cautioned that further installments will obviously depend on how well LEGEND OF THE SWORD performs.
As we near the debut of KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD, why not check out nine clips from the upcoming film!
Despite enjoying Guy Ritchie's take on SHERLOCK HOLMES, I'm not entirely certain what to think of KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD. It looks as though it will be entertaining enough, but the frequent shuffling of its release date as well as tossing in a kitchen sink's worth of fantasy elements has me scratching my head. That said, I've got my fingers crossed that Guy Ritchie will be able to pull it off.
