Gigi Gustin (Fast and Fierce: Death Race, Bulge Bracket) and genre icon Bill Moseley (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, House of 1000 Corpses – you know him) have signed on to star in director Demetrius Navarro’s horror thriller Chastise, which is currently in production.
Coming to us from D Street Films, Chastise begins when
horrific events inspire two young women to set out on a cross-country trail of chaos in their mobile tattoo van. With deviant subjects lurking around every corner, they devise an experiment that’s part human trials and full vigilante justice. Their avant garde methods go viral and ignite a social movement.
Gustin and Moseley are joined in the cast by Cassandra Ballard (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Blumhouse production Bloodline), Malcolm Danare (Christine 1983, Godzilla 1998), Tasha Tacosa (Clown Motel Massacre, Amityville Shark House), and Sydney Malakeh – whose credits include The Wrong Stepfather, Cheer Camp Killer, and Her Deadly Boyfriend.
Danare and Tacosa are also co-producers on the project, along with Arjun Yadav. Chastise is being produced by Damon McCarthy. Frank Thomas Parker serves as executive producer.
The idea of characters riding around in a mobile tattoo van reminds me of a moment in Bridesmaids in which Rebel Wilson reveals she has gotten a horrible free tattoo. “I got a free tattoo. I could not believe it. The guy said, ‘Do you want a tattoo?’, opened up the side of his van, and said ‘It’s for free!'” Aside from that, Chastise sounds like it could be interesting and I’m always interested in seeing what Moseley is up to.
As an actor, Demetrius Navarro has over 50 credits to his name, including roles in Friday and ER. He also has over 26 producing credits, and Chastise is his 16th directing credit. His previous directorial efforts include Anything Is Possible, American Justice, Bullet Ride, and Brutality.
