Charlotte Rampling 45 Years

The cast for director Denis Villeneuve's adaptation of Frank Herbert's classic novel DUNE continues to expand, with Charlotte Rampling joining the previously announced Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, and Stellan Skarsgard.

Scripted by Villeneuve, Eric Roth, and Jon Spaihts, DUNE will star Chalamet as

Paul Atreides, whose family assumes control of the desert planet Arrakis. As the only producer of a highly valuable resource, jurisdiction over Arrakis is contested among competing noble families. After Paul and his family are betrayed, the story explores themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship with nature, as Paul leads a rebellion to restore his family’s reign.

Ferguson will be playing Paul's mother Lady Jessica, with Skarsgard as the villainous Baron Harkonnen and Bautista as his brutish nephew.

Rampling is taking on the role of the emperor's truthsayer Reverend Mother Mohiam, "a person who can divine intentions, suss out lies and manipulate people's emotional states."

An actress who has racked up almost 130 screen credits in her fifty-five years of acting, Rampling recently earned her first Oscar nomination for her role in the 2015 drama 45 YEARS (pictured above).

Produced by Villeneuve, Mary Parent, and Cale Boyter, this adaptation of DUNE – the third to come along in the last thirty-five years – will begin filming in Budapest and Jordan this spring.
