Charlie’s Angels star Drew Barrymore is thinking about getting back in front of the camera to rekindle her acting career, and one project she’d like to explore is Charlie’s Angels 3. Speaking with People, the host of The Drew Barrymore Show said she’s open to acting again because it presents unique challenges not found in her other line of work. Barrymore recently spoke with Mindy Kaling about possibly getting the band back together for another superspy adventure and was excited by the prospect.
“Those are interesting challenges because they have been established. That really is building upon something,” Barrymore said. “There’s so much history there that they don’t feel like [the work of] making films. It’s like, ‘Do you want to spend your life doing that? With those people?’ Yes. I would show up. I really would.”
In addition to saying she’d be down for Charlie’s Angels 3, Barrymore is open to reuniting with Adam Sandler for another film. Barrymore and Sandler’s chemistry is off-the-charts in their classic romantic comedies The Wedding Singer, Blended, and 50 First Dates. I’ll bet the two actors still love each other, and another film with them at the center would be a huge hit. “As soon as you talk about Adam Sandler, I’m like, ‘Oh, well maybe. Sure,'”
Sandler and Barrymore filmed Blended when Barrymore’s daughter, Olive, was eight months old. The thought of traveling with a child that young is terrifying, but Barrymore says she was confident about bringing her bundle of joy along for the ride. “I was terrified to bring an eighth month old, I was overwhelmed,” she says. “But I did it because I feel so safe with Adam. That was the only person on the planet who could have gotten me to go do a film [at that time]. He’s a family man.”
What do you think about Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu re-teaming for Charlie’s Angels 3? Do you think they still have what it takes to kick ass, take names, and bust out funky dance moves? With seasoned actors taking on physical roles like Keanu Reeves in John Wick or Bob Odenkirk in Nobody, I wouldn’t put it past the trio to blow us all out of the water with another film in the Charlie’s Angels franchise.
